A Jackson County, Ind. Sheriff's deputy was shot twice after he was ambushed Thursday night.
Deputies received a call about a suspicious person under the Highway 39 bridge on the Grassy Fork River around 7 p.m. when the incident occurred, according to WLKY-TV.
Officials say the deputy attempted to confront the man when a second man shot him twice. He was hit in the collarbone, right above his bulletproof vest.
The deputy returned, wounding one of the suspects in the arm. Both men -- one of whom had a warrant out for his arrest -- were taken into custody.

The deputy was taken to a hospital in Indianapolis and is expected to be OK.
The incident is currently under investigation.
