A Touching Tribute of a Massachusetts Police Dog Laid to Rest

They say there is nothing like man’s best friend. Never has this statement rang truer than on Friday, May 31, when emotional members of the Plymouth Police Department in Massachusetts said goodbye to a special member of their family. Kaiser, a 2-year old German Shepard K-9 partner was put down after it was discovered he was suffering from a brief, but aggressive form kidney failure.

Officers gathered at the Court Street Animal Hospital to bid farewell to Kaiser. Perhaps most touching was the tribute he received as he walked into the building. Members of the police force lined the sidewalk and saluted the beloved K-9 as he was led through the doors one last time.

Officer Jamie Lebretton, Kaiser’s handler, expressed his loss on the Plymouth Police Working Dog Foundation’s Facebook page:

RIP my boy. I could not have asked for a better partner or friend. May you rest easy and wait for me at that sacred bridge. I will be there my friend. I will be there. I will never forget you or our accomplishments. You made me a better person, a better handler, and a better cop. Till we meet again kai. I love you and will miss you daily.
